7th TRY ~ I need things for my baby!!!
I am currently 38 weeks pregnant. I just went to the dr and he told me that he couldnt deliver me right now and sent me to a blood specialist. Apparently my platelets are REALLY low 73 instead of the 140 to 400 they are suposed to be. Because I have to have a Csection the risk of my bleeding to death is a HUGE concern..so Im off for a transfusion or 10. I am nervous because they sent me to an oncologist for my blood but they assured me I dont have cancer THANK GOD!!!
If all goes well my doctor will deliver in 2 more weeks (He will have too I will be 40 weeks). So I am really getting nervous. I am still in need of onesies, sleepers, outfits, socks ( I didnt think of socks) a snowsuit, receiving blankets, bassinet sheets, crib sheets, diapers, wipes, lotions, baby bath.
Here is the rest of my story for those who dont know it.
Although I am only 22 years old I have had a rough life, but because of it have been able to overcome many of life's struggles. I lost my own mother when I was but 2 years old and was sent to foster care system where I lived being shuffled around until the age of 18. Since I had never experienced a stable family I allowed myself to become involved with a man who said he loved me..but love shouldnt hurt. He beat me many many times and I stayed because I thought that he was all life had to offer. After leaving I found out I was pregnant and he convinced me to come back. I believed that I could change him, but when he beat me severely although I am 8 months pregnant, I made a run for it. I am now living with a friend trying to get into housing of my own. I was diagnosed as RH negative and put on bed rest. That means I cant work until after the baby is born. As of right now I know that she is a girl, but I have nothing for her. I have nothing for her to sleep in, no clothes, not even bottles or the bare necessities. Please help me give my baby a fighting chance in the world. I want to make life better for her....she is my legacy....
It was suggested that I add my location so I am in Northwest Indiana near Chicago. Also if anyone would like to donate I can give a p.o box address if they let me know. Thank you (more)

I didnt catch if you worked before the baby? if you do/have worked perhaps a friend at work could host a baby shower for you. Perhaps your friend your staying with could give you a baby shower? I'm not sure what is offered where you live but look in the phone book under goverenment and see if there is some kind a family association listed call them and see what they can do for you-also they have bulliten boards there that usually has offers of help also. Also try a shelter for battered women. Good luck to you.

Why dont you try freecycle? go to freecycle.org and search your city or county and it will bring up groups on yahoo for it. There are many things that people give away...and you can also post things that you want/need like a cradle, stroller, car seats, clothes etc.. They arent brand new but there are alot of things that are decent...we have received a cradle and double stroller from them already. good luck!

just wondering if you still need nursery furniture? walmart sells a nursery in a box, crib dresser and changing table for 198, i bought mine last year and it has been great. Oh and try craigslist.com people sell the whole kit and kaboodle sometimes

I know that it is not a disease..and I took the shots too...3 of them. There is still a problem with my blood...hence the transplant and the visit to the oncologist. I still got really sick with this baby. I am dizzy (anemia I guess) and also have early term labor so they wanted to keep the baby in.contractions cause my cervix to dilate and then since my placenta is covering it it could cause placenta abruption and that would not be good..now I want it out..and they still dont want to take it based on the risk. I am dilated to 3 now...so we will see. Thanks for your concern.
good luck and i gave you a 5 but RH neg is not a desease and you dont have to loose work for it...?? I am Rh neg and all they did was give me a shot in the butt. lol But I wish I could help you out..! good luck and congrats on the new baby

I wish you and your baby girl all the best....I know what you mean about not having anything for the baby as we went thru that with my unexpected and surprise grandson when he was born...We didn't have a thing but you'll be surprised at all the hospital will provide you with and I'm sure the nurses and social workers can provide you with a list of places to check into for other needed items also the caring members here may be able to help out! I'll check to see if we have any items you could use and check into some sites like [ link ] and [ link ] for samples....many freebie sites have listings for baby stuff too!
