Thank you much to all that have voted and/or commented on my wish. To Tranquility: Yes, this is the best I could do. I have gone through enough changes including severe weight gain due to depression. I believe that if somehow I could get this weight off, I could overcome this depression. It is a viscious cycle depression causes weight gain=weight gain causes depression. I went from a single digit size to a double digit size...which gives a completly new meaning to being 18 again. hahaha I have friends/family that love me dearly, but I need to love myself & like it or not, self image is a big part of that. I have been dealing with this blindness issue for about 6yrs or so now. I am trying to get to the acceptance level, but the depression keeps beating me back down. I think I would be able to deal with the blindness, if I could feel more confident in myself. A white cane can really put you in your place and wipe out your self esteem add being overweight to that=ME.
A few of you have asked about treatment for my blindness. I have RP=retinitis pigmentosa. There isn't a cure or any treatment at this time. I also have lattice degeneration & macular edema, these are retina related disorders, but the RP is the main vision stealer! I use to live as a sighted person, with no knowledge of any eye diseases, until I had to quit driving on May 23rd 1999. Now, on a good day, I make it through my house without tripping, falling, bumping into things, knocking things over, etc. I am a regular bull in the china shop! I believe losing your eyesight the way that me & other RP victims do is a devastaing process. It really strips you of who you are. You lose your independence and identity in one fell swoop. You find out who your real friends are, thats for sure. If you want to learn more or donate to RP research or other blinding diseases go to nfb.com
Thank you! I have trouble navigating websites, so I hope this posts.
